About Mera Adda

An adda is the place people gather to talk - a canteen table, a corridor, a bench outside the library. Mera Adda is that, for Indian college students, online.
What it is
A social network. Share photos and videos, post reels, put up a story that disappears after 24 hours, follow your batch, comment, save things you want to come back to, message and call the people you know.
If you have used Instagram, you already know how to use Mera Adda. That is deliberate. We would rather you spent your attention on the people here than on learning an interface.
Secret Crush
The one thing here that works differently.
You can privately mark someone as a Crush. They are not told. Nothing on their side changes - no notification, no counter, no hint that anyone at all has picked them. If they happen to pick you too, you are both told at the same moment. If they never do, they never know.
The point is to remove the risk from a small, ordinary act. Telling someone you like them costs something when it might not be returned. Here it costs nothing, because it is only ever revealed when it is mutual.
Mera Adda is not a dating app. It is a social network that happens to contain a private matching feature, and the rest of the product is built accordingly.
How we think about safety
A social app for students has to take unwanted contact seriously, so some of the rules are stricter than you might expect:
- Strangers get 5 messages. Enough to introduce yourself. Not enough to wear somebody down.
- Strangers cannot send photos, video or voice notes at all. The thing people want stopped is an unsolicited image, not an unsolicited sentence.
- No cold calls. Calling requires that you both follow each other, or that you have matched.
- Blocking is thorough. It clears follows, Crushes and any match, in both directions, and it is enforced by the server rather than hidden in the interface.
- 18+ only, checked at signup.
How we think about privacy
We do not sell your data, we do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not read your calls. Your password is stored as a one-way hash that we cannot reverse - which is why a reset gives you a new one rather than telling you the old one.
One detail we are quietly proud of: if you start signing up and never finish, nothing about you is stored anywhere. Your details are held in an encrypted token on your own device until every verification code is confirmed. No half-finished account sits in our database waiting to be cleaned up, because it never existed.
